Dark Knight Cecil
Strategy and Tips
Cecil is often not particularly useful before becoming a Paladin on Ordeals, but Dark Knight Cecil does have some strengths.
Black Sword
Dark Knight Cecil's best weapon is the Black Sword, which can instantly kill enemies that are not immune to Death. This can make some fights much quicker and easier. See the status procs article for details on how this works.
Dark
While the Dark ability does not do much damage, it does ignore enemy defense, so it can pierce Valvalis' spin.

Deals damage to all enemies equal to: physical multiplier * physical attack base / 2 + rnd(0, physical attack base)
Deals 1/4th damage to undead and 1 damage to flans
Subtracts 1/8th of Cecil's max hp
